Disabilities Kids

Most children with disabilities in Turiani don't attend school because of myths surrounding disability, inadequate facilities and lack of trained staff. This project will enable girls and boys with learning disabilities to receive an education, learn life skills and reach their full potential. Families can be ashamed of their disabled children because of the prevailing negative attitudes and stigma associated with disability, or they may be over protective for similar reasons.

This starts with a child’s integration into a primary school setting where other young children interact with them and attitudes can begin to change.
